My Water Abstraction series focuses on the movements of water. Using an abstract style in my photographs emphasizes focus on the whole photograph. I employ close up photographs of the water’s surface, mainly focusing on the movement and texture.
With each photograph in my Water Abstraction series, I am expressing my personal emotions. The movement of the water represents an emotion that I have specifically chosen for it. Scientific research states that color can affect emotions. I utilize color in each of my pieces to visually communicate the emotion that I am demonstrating in each water abstraction.
I pair writing with each photograph rather than giving a title. Writing dives deeper into the emotion that I want to convey with the abstract photographs of water. A haiku is in place of a title for each image. A haiku is a Japanese poem form that consists of three lines; five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. Using a poem as a title expands the idea of expressing the emotion assigned to each photograph, such as anger, endearment, the feeling of loss, or freedom.
I believe that images can strongly speak to viewers to the point of evoking feelings. With the Water Abstraction series, I want to demonstrate my emotions visually for the viewer to, in a way, empathize with me and feel each chosen emotion from my point of view.

There’s new beginnings Waiting to be unraveled. Do what’s right for you.

Constant vexation. It is mentally draining. No way to turn back.

Though no longer here, Good old memories of you Linger in my mind.

Days go by so fast, Minutes turn into seconds. The clock is ticking.

It’s just you and me. Bonded by the love we have, So sweet and tender.
